Briefly about me
Hello! My name is Nastya, I'm Russian student, and I'm interested in natural sciences, robotics and programming of course.
About my study
I'm in second year of Computer Science in the Ulyanovsk State Technical University. Thanks to my teachers I got a strong theoretical base, however, most of the knowledge I get from the hackathons, conferences, competitions in robotics, practical programming in local companies and self-education.
My interests
In my sapre time I like to read science fiction books as well as research articles. In the future I'd like to become a successful front-end developer, so I'm specially interested on usability design, graphics, cross-platform development, website layout and user interfaces in general. But that does not mean I do not like algorithms, optimization, and design the architecture of the application.
My non-Smalltalk experiences so far
I am one of the developers of the Youth initiative center. It is an organization gathering young volunteers from from many different areas, including IT. We develop applications useful for our society. I developed as a desktop application in C ++, C #, Java, erlang, and Web (HTML5, JavaScript/node.js, Ruby on Rails, PHP) and for mobile platforms (android, Windows Phone 7.5). I also have some experience of working with node-webkit.
My Smalltalk experiences so far
Unfortunately I didn't have opportunity yet to work with this interesting language.
Why am I interested in Smalltalk?
It seems to me that the Smalltalk language is a great opportunity to understand more deeply the principles of object-oriented programming. In addition, community involved than a year and has experience working with students, as I am taking part the first time, for me it's important.
Will I stay with Smalltalk after the project is finished?
Yes, I would like to participate in the development of Aida/Web after GSoC as well :)
